Go Here Now:
My title is Stephen Hill, I have overcome a stutter which had affected my life for eighteen years. I now help as many different people who stutter to realize fluency as I can.
Once I had a stutter, I’d attend speech therapy, at which I would be informed to decelerate or to take a deep breath before talking. Other ideas were to make use of costal breathing or to lengthen my words.
This did not appear to assist me very much and after attending these speech therapy classes for eighteen years decided it probably by no means would.
I firmly believed that my own stutter was very much a physcological as well as a physical drawback as at times I may discuss very well, like for example once I was speaking to my girlfriend or when I was talking after I was drunk.
I made a decision to read a number of books about positive thinking for example and at the similar time started to study how good fluent talkers had been talking compared to me. I used to be mainly making an attempt to re-learn how to speak.
It was hard for me to really imagine I’d ever have the ability to achieve fluency as everyone had always advised me that you could not overcome a stutter.
After about a year although I managed to beat the stutter and then started to help other individuals to attain fluency.
I have been helping folks now for round eight years and have helped people who stutter from many various nations and backgrounds.
I run stutter speech therapy programs that are held in Birmingham in England. They are one to one courses over three or five days. Individuals depart the course with a booklet which I name the stammering/stuttering course notes and a seventy minute dvd. These act as a reminder of what to do. Persons are additionally suggested to maintain in regular contact with me after the course to ask any questions which can arise and for additional support.
People who are unable to attend the course are capable of buy the course notes and dvd as a form of self help.
If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Stop Stuttering Therapies
Joe Biden has stated that he has managed to overcome a speech impediment. He had a stutter when he was younger but has been able to eradicate it from his speech and is now able to talk fluently~He was saddled with a speech impediment in his youth but is now able to speak with a freedom and with total fluency}. It is reported that around one percent of the population have a stutter or stammering problem and hearing yet another person openly talk about how they have been able to achieve fluency will give these people great hope for the future.
When searching for information about stuttering people will often receive mixed messages. There are many examples of famous people such as Biden who have managed to eradicate their stutter but then you read on another website of people who believe that stuttering can not be overcome. Unfortunately there is a lot of rubbish written about the whole subject of stuttering which is normally on blogs written by people who have a stutter themselves. It is as if they are jealous about the people who have managed to achieve fluency.
Instead of feeling jealous perhaps they could learn about how these people did manage to stop stuttering and about the character required to achieve fluency. To become more positive would be a good starting point. It can be quite frustrating when you attend regular treatments of speech and language therapy without any real form of success. Perhaps they should keep quite about their own failures or perhaps they could admit as to the real lack of effort that they have put into achieving fluency. These are people who have not been able to stop stuttering for whatever reason and I am sure you can have a good guess as to why. For me they should not be spreading their negativity to people who have got the where with all to achieve fluency.
There are numerous forms of treatment out there for people who are interested in overcoming their stutter. There are 1 – 2 – 1 intensive stuttering courses as well as a variety of self-help products to choose from.
Whichever form of stuttering therapy a person decides to take up will require their full commitment and dedication. It is far from easy to overcome a stutter and their is no quick fix. It requires patience, hard work, practice and a positive attitude.
Stuttering Bloggers And Their Negative Ways
The subject of stuttering is a very interesting one. It is an area where people who have been unable to eradicate their stutter run their own blogs where they advise other people to accept their stutter! Do you have any idea as to why they do this? Their negativity makes other people believe that there is not a cure for stuttering. So this begs the question, is there a cure for stuttering?
In simple terms these stuttering bloggers should be ashamed of themselves. Just because they have failed in their quest to achieve fluency, no doubt due to a lack of character and determination, does not mean that other people will not be able to overcome their stutter.
Yes stuttering can be overcome, it takes a lot of hard work, a positive mind, a real determination and patience, but it can de done.
Is it worth listening to negative people? Why listen to people who fail? Why listen to people who bad mouth any form of stammering therapies? Let’s face it these people are basically just the losers of our society.
I guess that I am rather fortunate as my mother and father bought me up to only accept the best from life. Perhaps these stuttering bloggers were not as fortunate as me; it is never too late to change however.
If you have a stutter then I would not feel discouraged or dismayed after reading some of these stuttering help blogs. There are many other websites which have plenty of positive news and treatments for stuttering. For those who are prepared to work hard then fluency can be attained.
Just by conducting a simple search using the keywords of “cure for stuttering” will help you to locate the types of websites that will help you in your quest to stop stuttering.
How To Overcome Your Speech Problem
I had a stutter from the age of four and during the period when I had the speech impediment, I had a fear of certain words beginning with certain letters. Any words which began with “b” were especially hard to say. There were a number of other words which I also found hard to say; these included ones beginning with d, v, g, and p. The way I would cope with these words was by either avoiding them or by findng an alternative word to say. This was not always easy and these difficult words were always on my mind. I had a lifetime goal which was to attain total fluency; I often dreamt of the day when I would be able to say any word regardless of what letter it began with.
Many different situations would be affected by the stutter, for example I found job interviews very stressful as I would stutter more when I was under pressure.
At the age of sixteen, I became drunk for the first time. The results were quite amazing as I could now talk really well. The alcohol had given me a huge but somewhat false confidence boost. The fear of stuttering disappeared and the words began to flow.
I was hoping that the new found stutter-free speech would continue in the morning – this was not to be the case. I felt rather unwell and some what sleepy and the stutter was to return with full force. The previous nights experience had though, for the first time given me a belief that one day I could possibly eradicate my stutter.
There are many forms of stuttering treatment out there including tradional speech therapy, group speech courses, one to one speech courses, and even hypnotherapy. I personally believe that the way to go is one to one speech courses as every person who has a stutter is an individual and has an individual stutter.
There is also self help stuttering therapies available via stuttering therapy ebooks and dvds.
Remember to work hard and to put in the required practice. The techniques do work however they are not some form of magic pill.
How To Deal With Emotional Health Problems Including Stuttering
At times people start becoming anxious about their future or even about their present situation. I have read that this can even result in panic attacks.
In my opinion worrying does not help the situation, it only makes things worse. Well it certainly made things worse when I had a stutter – the more I worried, the worse the the stuttering became. I was desperate to find a way that could help me to stop stuttering as I knew this would help me to gain in confidence and have a better quality of life.
Insomnia
Having trouble with sleeping at night can happen for a number of reasons, the main one of which is stress. Other causes are snoring, an intake of too much caffeine, a noisy environment or depression.
Irritability
When people lose sleep or work to hard they can become over tired and this can lead to irritability. This can cause people to have a higher pulse rate, making their muscles feel tight and can leave people also feeling anxious and lethargic.
It is important to therefore ensure that you obtain a good amount of hours sleep per night (at least seven)and that you only work a certain amount of hours per week. Money is important to people, however in my opinion health should be the priority. I found myself working too hard at one stage for a company which sold composite front doors; this soon started to affect my sleep before I finally realised the mistake that I was making.
Solutions to these emotional health problems
I am now taking time out for me as I am fully aware that my body and brain need to have a treat from time to time. I was once described by a good friend as a “stress head” and this certainly would have been a good way to sum me up back then.
I now use various methods at different times of the year to help me to chill out a bit and to reward my body. These include reflexology, meditation, yoga, aromatherapy and tai chi. Yoga was something which did not really agree with me – I am not really sure why and in reality I will probably give it another go, with perhaps a more positive attitude, in the future.
I am now a far more content, happier person and as a career now work in the jobs in foster care industry. I am sure that other people can also become more self-fulfilled with the help of alternative therapies and additional sleep.
