So, you’ve resolved it’s a good time you get started losing a bit of weight, and that exercising regularly would be a good way to start. If you haven’t exercised in a long time, or never, you may not know how to get going. You probably think it’s a bit daunting. All you have to do is get going and go for a walk. You must make walking a major part of your exercise plan.

There are many ways you will be able to fit walking into your day-to-day agenda. Do you own a dog? Take your pet for a nice, long walk. Anything less than 10 minutes doesn’t count. It may only have been ten minutes, but in a week that is no less than 70 minutes, which is quite a lot of walking. You can double this by merely walking your dog twice a day. Or how about walking to your office, or at least some of the way? You can try this regardless the distance of your home from work. A half an hour walk to work is doable, and if you walk to and from work you’ll be walking for an hour every day. If you use public transportation to get to work, simply walk to the next bus stop so that you do a bit more walking in the day. Adding more walking into your day-to-day agenda is a breeze.

Walking is one of the least complicated and most effective things you can do to be healthy. The reason walking is so great for your heart and at helping you experience weight loss is that it is the ideal aerobic exercise. You shouldn’t be concerned about overworking your joints or muscles like when running, as you can go as slowly as you must. I have a lean brother who seems to be able to gobble up anything he wants and remain slim. I asked him about it. He told me how often he goes out to walk daily, and it’s a lot more than I do. When he mentioned that, things abruptly made sense. Walking is simple exercise, so there really is no reason you shouldn’t walk.

The moment you establish walking as a part of your day-to-day routine, it will become more painless to stay with it, and as a bonus you’ll begin to notice you’re losing weight, too. By walking you’ll also feel better and you won’t be discouraged by it since it’s not strenuous at all, which will make you feel more driven. Before you know it, you’ll be looking forward to your usual walks and considering going on walks even more. If you think you can do more – do it. Try walking more quickly or, if you’re feeling very confident, you could begin jogging. From there, you can advance to more vigorous workouts.

What else is there that you need to know? Are you ready to begin walking? You can always find time to walk around your work complex, or the block. If you can’t do that, sign up for a gym membership and get on a treadmill. There  are a hundred  ways  to skin this  exercise cat.

An Alcoholic Gentleman Registers For Rehab, Gets Alcohol Detoxification and Treatment For His Depression and His Alcohol Addiction, and Begins to Improve Upon His Relationship With His Wife

Barry used to talk big to his buddies how he could work at a challenging and fulltime job and get intoxicated virtually every night. Unfortunately, after maintaining this destructive lifestyle for around three years, he began to observe several alcohol related issues.

Barry Starts to Display a Variety of Alcohol Related Difficulties

For example, he had a very hard time getting up for work because he felt so exhausted when he awoke. Moreover, virtually every morning Barry suffered from a severe hangover. Undoubtedly, the mixture of his hangovers and his lack of get-up-and-go did not make it easy for him to get up and feel motivated to go to work. To make things more difficult, nearly a week ago he got his third driving under the influence citation in the past nine months.

To compound things further, at his job his last two work assessments were less than satisfactory. And lastly, his three-and-a-half-year marriage with his wife had deteriorated due to his depression, financial difficulties, lack of patience, and his angry outbursts.

Though Barry was only twenty-four years old, he honestly started to look like he was in his mid forties. Unfortunately, this is what unhealthy and excessive drinking can do to an individual. And in all honesty he understood that he was suffering from the negative outcomes of alcohol abuse or alcohol addiction and that he was too young to squander his life to irresponsible and careless drinking. So at first he tried to drink responsibly and in moderation. Unfortunately, he soon comprehended the fact that he lost all control after consuming his first drink. Stated somewhat more forcefully, after his first drink he invariably proceeded to get intoxicated. Due to the fact that this was a situation that was repeated every time he went out to drink, this distressed him greatly. In actual fact, he started to wonder if he was exhibiting some of the signs of alcoholism and alcohol abuse.

Barry Makes up His Mind To Schedule an Appointment to See His Doctor

After going over his excessive alcohol ingestion and his excessive and hazardous drinking with his wife, he finally made up his mind to schedule an appointment to see his doctor. When Barry saw his healthcare professional, he actually mentioned that he has been abusing alcohol, that he may be manifesting alcoholic signs, and that he wants to abstain from drinking. He said that drinking in moderation doesn’t seem to work for him and, consequently, he wants to learn how he can live an alcohol-free life.

Barry also told his physician about his depression and how this mental health issue was adversely influencing his relationship with his wife. His physician referred Barry to Doctor Posch, an alcohol and drug addiction therapist, who motivated Barry to register in a drug and alcohol rehab facility as an in-patient for alcohol detoxification and alcohol rehab. Fortunately, Barry would also be able to get medical treatment for his depression at this treatment center.

Getting and Staying Sober Was the Best Decision Barry Had Ever Made

After six months of intensive treatment intensive rehabilitation, Barry left the residential rehabilitation facility and continued his recovery via going to local Alcoholics Anonymous meetings and via outpatient counseling. Encouraged to change his life in a more positive way, Barry bought some vitamins at a health store and a cookbook. He then joined a gym and began working out three or four times per week. Within four months Barry was a new man. He was eating nutritious meals, he wasn’t depressed anymore, he now looked younger than he was, he was in shape, and most significant of all, he maintained his sobriety for many months. He also didn’t resort to angry outbursts, he became more patient, and he became a more compassionate person in his relationship with his wife. Stated simply, abstaining from drinking was the best decision Barry had ever made.

A Young Man Gets a DWI Arrest, Decides to Hire a DWI Attorney, Gets Inspired to Always Drink Responsibly, and Discovers His Self Esteem

Ralph had just received his second DWI. He was thinking about representing himself in court, but his father, Sam, told him that this would be a really big mistake. When Ralph heard this, he asked Sam why he should even consider getting a ”driving under the influence” attorney.

Although Sam wasn’t a lawyer, he told his son that he learned the hard way when as a young man he received a DWI, represented himself in court, paid twenty-five hundred dollars in fines and penalties, and served six months in the local city jail. As he mentioned to his son, after he got out of jail, he found out from an attorney friend that had he hired a DWI lawyer to represent him in court, he more likely than not would have had his penalties and fines substantially reduced and he may have never served any time in the local jail.

What a DWI Attorney Can Do in a DUI Arrest.

When Ralph heard this he knew he needed more DUI facts so he asked his father for more information about what a ”drunk driving” attorney can do in a DWI arrest. His dad then articulated the following: “When you place yourself in the hands of a DUI attorney, it is very possible that you will be treated with respect and treated fairly while you will receive the best defense that is possible. DUI lawyers understand how critical a good defense is to your case and so they try to do everything they can to protect your legal rights.”

When Ralph listend to his father explain this, it was as if his eyes were opened for the first time about the relevance of hiring a DWI lawyer. Stated differently, Ralph realized that he needed a DUI lawyer.

The Whole Story About Taking Field Sobriety Tests

He then told his father that he had heard a lot about field sobriety tests. Consequently, he asked his father what a field sobriety test was.

His dad responded with the following: “Ralph, field sobriety tests are administered by the police in order to find out if a person has been operating a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol, drugs, or both. Field sobriety tests are often based on coordination and agility. The ‘rationale’ underlying these tests is that if a person is impaired from drugs, alcohol, or from both, his or her coordination and agility will be negatively affected and the person’s ‘performance’ on these tests will suffer.”

Ralph’s father then wanted to accentuate the following: “Ralph, remember that you cannot be legally forced to take any field sobriety tests when you are stopped by the police. The police officer that administers the tests is the only ‘evaluator’ of your performance and is therefore frequently documenting only the things that you do incorrectly or fail. As a result, in the vast majority of cases, a polite refusal to take any field sobriety test is appropriate.”

Near the end of their conversation, Ralph said that was beginning to grasp the importance of “drunk driving” laws and what DUI attorneys can do for a person who has received a ”drunk driving” arrest, but he was still wondering why he was pulled over by the police in the first place. In his own words Ralph asked his father the following question: “Dad, why was I pulled over by the police? Specifically what were they looking for”?

His dad answered Ralph in the following way: “Ralph, there are many different reasons why you could have been ‘pulled over’ by the police. Some illustrations include the following: weaving in and out of traffic, missing a front license plate, tinted windows, speeding, involvement in a traffic accident, driving erratically, and expired registration tags. What is more, an anonymous individual may have reported you to the police after seeing you leaving a restaurant, a sporting event, a party, or a bar ‘under the influence’ and getting behind the wheel of your vehicle. In short, there are many possible reasons why you were ‘pulled over’ by the police.”

After getting “educated” about “driving under the influence” arrests, the role of DUI attorneys, and the fact that he didn’t have to agree to take any field sobriety tests at the time of his arrest, Ralph decided that he would definitely hire a ”drunk driving” lawyer to represent him in court.

Ralph Becomes Encouraged That He Will Always Drink In Moderation and Never Go Through Another DUI Arrest

Something else, however, happened after he had talked to his father. Ralph at last began to realize the critical nature of “drunk driving” arrests and as a consequence, he decided that from this moment forward, he would always drink in moderation so that he would never again have to go through another DWI arrest.

His dad smiled at Ralph and told him the following, “son, it took me until I was forty-five years old to realize what you just told me. I am really proud of you.

This did wonders for his self worth and so Ralph thanked his father and then said, “if I can always drink in moderation, I will never need to hire a DUI attorney again!”

Does Ralph Need Alcohol Rehabilitation For His Alcoholism or For His Alcohol Abuse?

There was, however, one thing that neither Ralph nor his father thought about, namely, if Ralph needs alcohol treatment for his alcoholism or for his alcohol abuse. In fact, Ralph may be required by the court to get rehab for his drinking behavior.

Here’s The Skinny On Big, Beautiful Fashions

You’d never know it from looking at fashion magazines, but more than half of American women wear size 14 or larger clothes. Yet even though we big beautiful gals are in the majority, we still starve ourselves trying to look like something we’re not.

The thing is, our family’s physical heritage tends to run large. We’re descended from sturdy peasant farmer stock – tall men with broad shoulders and tall women with big hips. This is great when you’re plowing fields and having lots of babies to be farm hands, but it can be a disadvantage in our time of highly processed foods and much less physical labor.

Anyway, about six months ago our cousin Celia got engaged. Since we’re a close family, Celia wanted nearly everyone to be in the wedding party. The trouble started when she began looking through popular bridal magazines. Before we knew it, we were constantly arguing about how to lose fat so that everybody could get supermodel-slim for the wedding. It wasn’t a happy time.

Finally, our aunt had had enough of her daughter turning into Bridezilla over this issue of body size. Auntie is one smart cookie, and it wasn’t long before she figured out a strategy that saved the day – and the family.

One of Auntie’s friends sells bridal dresses and evening gowns in town. She told our aunt that the question of body size often comes when choosing bridal gowns. Instead of trying to argue anymore, though, Auntie’s friend loaned her a couple of catalogs that she uses to order dresses for her shop. These catalogs were full of beautiful, full-color photos that showed how a plus size wedding dress could fit well and look stunning at the same time.

Now Auntie is cunning. She knew we wouldn’t voluntarily come to another family gathering about wedding dresses, so instead she invited us over to try on party jewelry. While we were going ga-ga over all the sparklies, Auntie pulled out the catalogs and her measuring tape. We knew from the look in her eye that none of us was leaving until we’d solved this wedding dress issue.

Marge, who is a fabulous seamstress anyway, got out her tape measure and measured everyone of us right then and there! We each wrote down our measurements and decided on what body shape we each have. We haven’t had so much girlie fun in ages!

Our cousin was a romantic vision on her wedding day in a fabulous gown that fit perfectly. And the rest of us, her bridesmaids, were just as beautiful, because we chose fashions that suited who we are.

A Young Woman Gets Arrested for DWI, Talks to Her Manager at Work, and Gets Inspired to Turn Her Life Around and Recoup Her Self Respect

Shelly was known at work as an incredibly conservative human being who had an excellent work record. She never went to any of the happy hours immediately after work and it was recognized through the entire company that she was a very spiritual individual who often spoke about the pitfalls of alcohol abuse and dependency on alcohol in our country.

Try to imagine the surprise inside the workplace when one Monday morning Shelly didn’t show up for work and no one had heard from her. The truth is, it wasn’t until close to 10:45 in the morning that the human resources department received a phone call about Shelly from the downtown jail.

Shelly Goes Out Drinking With a Number of Her University Friends

Evidently, Shelly went out drinking along with several of her university pals Saturday night and sometime close to 2:30 Sunday morning, Shelly was arrested for a DUI. Given that her blood alcohol content level (BAC) was very elevated, she was required to spend a day-in-a-half inside the downtown jail.

Shelly Talks to Her Manager and The Human Resources Director

When Shelly came to work on Tuesday morning, she promptly shared with her boss what had taken place and she asked if she could go and talk with the Human Resources manager about her “driving under the influence” arrest.

When she got to the HR department and met with the manager, she discussed that she had not been inebriated since her university days and that she was really embarrassed about her DUI arrest. She also articulated the point that she needed some help selecting a highly trained and successful DWI attorney who would represent her “driving while intoxicated” case. Stated another way, Shelly really wanted the Human Resources director to agree that she needed to see a DUI attorney.

The Human Resources director told Shelly that she ought to schedule an appointment with somebody inside the company employee’s assistance program to discuss any possible drinking problem that she may have. The HR director also articulated that she needs to discuss her wish to hire a DUI attorney to represent her regarding her DUI case.

What is more, the Human Resources director told Shelly that it was constructive that she really wanted to employ a “driving under the influence” lawyer mainly because of the difficulties and problematic consequences that happen to be related to a “driving under the influence” conviction.

The Human Resources director could tell that Shelly was plainly disappointed and humiliated by this entire situation. Consequently, he told Shelly that while he doesn’t believe that conscientious folks really should ever get behind the steering wheel right after consuming alcohol, regrettably these circumstances at times take place to really good persons.

The Human Resources manager then said that since such a scenario cannot be undone, what’s significant is what the man or women does from this moment forward. As articulated by the Human Resources manager, “does the person learn from her or his errors or does he or she develop a pattern of alcohol related complications that cause the particular person chronic pain and suffering”?

Fortunately, Shelly Did Not Have a History of Excessive Drinking

Just before completing their conversation, the Human Resources manager told Shelly that it was quite positive that she doesn’t have a track record of unhealthy drinking drinking. Not only this but she hasn’t had an alcohol-related predicament since her university days (which was approximatley 14 years ago). As a result, Shelly ought to be able to deal with her DWI arrest with sorrow but also with a degree of self-assurance knowing that she will face and sort out this situation and become a healthier person in the not too distant future.

Shelly thanked the Human Resources manager for his supportive and stimulating words and then walked over towards the company employee’s assistance program to discuss her “driving while intoxicated” arrest, her participation in unhealthy and abusive drinking drinking over the weekend, and her interest to retain a DUI lawyer to represent her “driving while intoxicated” case.

After listening to Shelly’s “story,” the doctor that was part of the company employee’s assistance program articulated Shelly’s immediate “action plan” that she needed to address and follow. First, she would be required to take a DUI class to learn more DUI facts and information. Second, she would also be required to take an alcohol abuse class to address her possible problem drinking. And finally, it would be an especially wise thing to do if she were to talk to a DUI lawyer about her DUI arrest.

Shelly Feels Comfort Knowing That She Will Learn From Her Oversight and Grow To Be More Sensible

It was obvious that Shelly was extremely upset with the complete DUI situation, but right after talking to the Human Resources director and to the nurse in the company employee’s assistance program, she felt encouraged that she would in fact learn from her oversight and become even more healthy and balanced, more dependable, and an even more grateful person.

Counting Blessing Instead Of Wrinkle Lines

So yes it is that time of year again, it’s my birthday. But this year I am forty and I am really feeling it. I never pictured myself at forty and it is scary. I shyly look in the mirror and find a grey hair. It’s my first present of the day, how wonderful.

Making my way to the kitchen a feel my body creaking and I ponder if leg arthritis is beginning. Yes this is the beginning of the end. I saw my future next week retiring with my cane because I could no longer walk or hold a job down.

I feel the rain begin to pour as I drop my kids off at school and thank the Lord above for my next present of walking from my parking spot in the rain to ruin my hair. This day is just getting better and better. But it does as I am greeted with a bunch of black balloons in my office. A nice joke but it didn’t help my mood.

To go with my balloons is the proverbial over the hill cake to I dive into it with a big piece. Why not as my hips is now beginning to spread as I near death of fifty faster and faster. As I return to my office I just sit and stare at the black balloons and ponder what my headstone will say.

As I look at my ringing phone I see it is a birthday call from my best friend Lisa. She probably has the perfect fun filled dig to give me while reminding me she is two years younger. But as I answered I sense that she is upset. I ask her what is wrong but she tries to play it off.

With some goading and her apologizing for not being happier she finally tells me what is wrong. I slump back in tears as my best friend tells me she has breast cancer. Oh Lisa, how sorry I am for you, how selfish could I be for being so thoughtless and pitiful about my own life.

How could I let my thoughts go so far in the negative? I am so blessed to have what I have and how could I dare complain. What is a little wrinkle when I have my health? So as I get home I rush into the house and hug my kids and my husband and realize just how blessed I truly am.
