Is Black The New Black?

Is black the new black? It’s fairly obvious that one of the most popular colors in fashion, style, culture and just about anything else one would care to mention these days — including the high-speed, low drag sports cars many young guys are driving around in — is still black. It never seems to go out of style and there are certainly a good many reasons for why.

The qualities of the color black have helped to make it beloved among all colors by men everywhere, no matter their age. It is the best color among all at hiding the dirt that seems to follow real men everywhere they go. It can not only make something look good in ways that other colors can’t, but it also helps to keep the guy from having to wash anything. For example, his beloved black helmet that’s pulled out for more cycle riding probably hasn’t been washed in five or six years.

Truthfully, hiding dirt as well as one can is probably one of the big priorities and most of the young guy’s life, because what young guy wants to spend 30 minutes washing a pair of dirty jeans that are black in color when they can probably be worn for at least five or six more weeks, at which point they’ll probably march themselves to the washer just to relieve themselves of the stench.

For just about every guy, the color black makes picking out clothing or accessories exceedingly easy, even when it comes to finding a black sport watch. All that he needs to know is that the watch will be colored in black and that he can probably find it for eight bucks at the local discount store and he is happy as a clam. And besides; that eight dollar watch probably runs as nicely as a $3000 Swiss watch, leaving $2992 to spend on good stuff like video games, right?

There’s really no secret to the color black, however, though whoever the guy was that created it should be celebrated forever and ever and toasted by men all over the world, who don’t have to worry about that pesky ketchup stain on their lap. With black, the problem of getting off that ketchup with a wet cloth never is really a problem. Now; talk to a man about having to do that in a pair of stylish khakis and there would be a different response.

So then; is there really anything to complain about when it comes to the color black? Other than that somebody who wears it from head to toe, day in and day out might be mistaken for some minion of the evil dark Lord Slaggathor or something, there really doesn’t seem to be much else that could be said in a negative manner about black, even when a men’s sport watch is covered in it. For a fact, though; women probably won’t be running around in black wedding dresses anytime soon, it seems.

There are so many positive things to say about black, coming from the perspective of a guy, that it’s a wonder that more men aren’t running around dressed like ninja warriors. Certainly, it can even slim down a guy who’s been chowing down on too many doughnuts and 32 ounce soda pops while busily punching his videogame controller, and that’s probably why black will forever be loved by any man or boy worth his salt.
