Based on a Women’s Right report from the Un last year, there’s been a continuing failure to empower women in the community on a global scale. Gender equality between females and males has only seen marginal improvements. Out of the one hundred and eighty United Nations member countries merely 10 countries observed improvement on some level.  A lot of women across the world are still being deprived their basic rights and freedoms. There’s been a general failure to rectify the plight of women’s issues on a global scale, the improvement of these types of issues is vital to the world’s welfare and future development.

The nations that have been least developed, like Afghanistan, have failed to lessen discrimination against women and have showed little concern for women’s rights. Developed nations such as the Norway, Sweden and United States, have strengthened and supported women. Over the past 30 years the U.S. has been able to develop programs that empower women; then again the results reflect only a minor improvement. Gender issues have not been adequately represented and ought to be on the fore front of society’s goals.

A lot of women still feel as though they’re considered to be lower class citizens in comparison to their male counterparts in most social elements. Women continue to be regarded as less serious competitors in the political arena. The basic attitude still reflects the idea that politics should be left to men, as the stronger leaders. This discrimination is reflected in the government’s personnel ratios, where men are still the vast majority. Economically women continue to be behind men with regards to wages as well as in regard to ownership of prosperous organizations, which are mainly owned by males. Recent studies show that females have lower income earnings in comparison to males for the exact same job or service delivered.

Women might still encounter barriers when attempting to engage in company ownership because society still categorizes women with the aim of family care that is aimed at caring for the kids and home. Women might even find themselves faced with requests for sexual favors in exchange for an recognized or closed business deal. Therefore, many women tend to remove themselves from the business sector because their true worth is not being recognized. Throughout history males have been considered society’s providers and their input and output is viewed as more important in comparison to females who deliver the same value of work.  This has lead to a world filled with women who are suffering silently with the need to feel acknowledged and appreciated

There has also been a rise in domestic violence against women, even though there have been stiffer penalties imposed on the perpetrator. There has been little to no reduction in this type of behavior. Reproductive health is another concern associated with women’s rights and empowerment. Some issues regarding reproductive health have been debated for extensive periods and require authoritative permission. As a result reproductive choices are not usually made freely.

Women are facing numerous obstacles in their goal to achieve gender equality. In order to deal with the problems facing women, society needs to alter the current trend. This change needs to be initiated by women for women. Women need to invest time and care into the issues affecting women throughout the world by improving policies and acts surrounding women’s rights.
