Skin care is not a subject of recent years; it has been in practice for thousands of years, when herbal skin care was possibly the only way to take care of skin. Nevertheless, skin care has transformed in a big way. Herbal skin care schedules have been replaced by synthetic/chemical-based skin care routines. The herbal skin care recipes which used to be everyday are not so fashionable today (and even unknown to a huge population). This shift from herbal skin care to artificial, can probably be assigned to two things – our idleness ( or just the rapid pace of lives) and the commercialisation of skincare. Even herbal skin care products have been commercialised. These commercial herbal skin care products need to be mixed with preservatives as a way to increase their shelf-life, therefore ensuring they are less capable than the organic ones produced at home. Even so, apparently things are changing fast and a greater numbers of people are now making a good decision on natural and herbal skin care procedures. But nevertheless, none want to make them at home and hence the economic marketplace of herbal skin care products is rising.

So what are these herbs or herbal skin care mechanisms?

Aloe vera, that is an extract from Aloe plant, is one of the best examples of herbal skin care product. Newly distilled aloe vera is a natural hydrant that helps in relieving damaged skin. It also helps in mending cuts and dealing with sunburn.

An amount of herbs are known to possess cleansing properties. Dandelion, chamomile, lime flowers and rosemary herbs, are a couple of examples of such cleansers. Their herbal skin care properties get invoked when they are combined with other herbs like tea.

Antiseptics are another important part of Herbal skin care. Lavender, marigold, thyme and fennel are superb examples of herbs that are known to have cleansing properties. Lavender water and rose water also form superb toners.

Tea plays a significant component in herbal skin care. Tea extracts are employed for remedy of skin that is in need of repair by UV radiation.

Oils prepared from herbal distillations present another means of herbal skin care. Tea tree oil, Lavender oil, borage oil and primrose oil are some popular oils employed in herbal skin care. Some fruit oils (e.g. extracts from fruits like banana, apple and melon) find use in shower gels (as a hydrating mix)

Homeopathic treatments and aromatherapies also come under the umbrella of herbal skin care treatments.

Herbal skin care is good not only for the regular nourishing of skin but also for treatment of skin disorders like eczema and psorasis. Most herbal skin maintenance systems don’t have any bad effects (the most significant cause of preferring them over synthetic products) What is more, herbal skin care products can be easily made at home, therefore ensuring they are even more attractive. So, herbal skin care is the way to go. Yet, this doesn’t imply that you completely disregard the synthetic products. Some people go to the degree of arguing with their dermatologist, if he/she suggests an artificial product. You have to accept the truth that some skin orders may need usage of clinically proven non-herbal skin maintenance systems.
